Yang becomes 7th player in history to reach 100 innings in 10 consecutive seasons + 2nd player in history to reach 1900 strikeouts
Kia Tigers pitcher Yang Hyun-jong (35) has set another record.
On February 2, Yang not only pitched 100 innings for the 10th consecutive season in the KBO, but also struck out his 1,900th career batter in the away game against the Samsung Lions at Pohang Baseball Stadium in North Gyeongsang Province.
Yang, who had pitched 96 innings this season before the game, became the seventh pitcher in history to reach 100 innings in 10 consecutive seasons with four innings pitched.안전놀이터
Prior to Yang, only six pitchers have pitched 100 innings in 10 consecutive seasons: Chung Sam-hum (1987-1996), Lee Kang-chul (1989-1998), Cho Kye-hyun (1989-1998), Jung Min-chul (1992-2003-2000-2001), Song Jin-woo (1994-2006), and Jang Won-jun (2005-2017-2012-2013 with military service).
Since entering the professional ranks in 2007 as a second-round pick of KIA, Yang has pitched more than 100 innings in every season except 2013, when he tried out for Major League Baseball (MLB).
Yang struck out Samsung leadoff hitter Kim Tae-hoon on a swinging strikeout in the fifth inning for his fourth strikeout of the day.
Yang, who had 1,896 strikeouts before this game, now has 1,900 strikeouts. He is second on the all-time list behind Song Jin-woo (retired). Song struck out 2048 batters in his career.
