Lee, who blew a one-sided lead against Sophia Schubert (USA) in the first match of the day to draw 1-1, is now tied for first place with Schubert, who defeated Brooke Henderson (CAN) by one hole earlier in the day. “I’m very happy to get the win,” said Lee. “Yesterday, I played well enough to win, but it was too windy in the second half and I lost my shot feeling,” said Lee. “I was very disappointed with my performance yesterday, so today I tried to focus as much as possible in the second half and push my game to the end,” said Lee.
“I think tomorrow’s match will be very important. I think I have to win to make it (to the round of 16),” he said. “The course is as difficult as a major and it’s hard to make birdies. It’s not going to be easy tomorrow, so I’m going to focus on my game as much as possible and keep making pars and I think I’ll have a chance.”
After losing in the first round, Kim Se-young of Team 13, Hae-ran Hae of Team 15, and Anna Lin of Team 7 each won to move to 1-1. Defending champion Ji-hee Ji of Team 8, who won on day one, fell 3&2 to Maddie Jurick (CAN) to go 1-1. Zerlik moved to the top of the Group 8 standings with a 1-1 draw.
