Mrs. Kim Gun-hee, wife of President Yun Suk-yul, has been appointed honorary chairperson of the Korea Visitors Bureau at the request of Mr. Lee Boo-jin, Chairman of the Korea Visitors Bureau (President of Hotel Shilla).
Mrs. Kim attended the launching ceremony of the K-Tourism Cooperation Group at the Korea Tourism Organization in Jung-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 23rd.
The launching ceremony was organized to promote cooperation between companies and associations in the tourism industry for the success of the 2023-2024 Korea Visit Year, and was attended by more than 80 people, including representatives of tourism companies, tourism industry associations, and international students, as well as relevant government agencies.
“I have been very impressed by how Mrs. Kim has made great efforts to promote Korean culture whenever she travels abroad,” said Lee, who asked Mrs. Kim to serve as the honorary chairperson of the event and be a strong supporter of the success of the Year of the Korean Visit and the activities of the K-Tourism Partnership.

The Korea Visit Committee has been inviting presidential spouses to serve as honorary chairpersons when promoting the Year of the Korean Visit campaign.
Mrs. Kim accepted the honorary chairmanship, saying, “I will do my best to promote Korea’s appeal to people from all over the world.”
“Korea is a truly fascinating country,” Mrs. Kim said, “and we need to make sure that the interest and enthusiasm for Korea is translated into more visits.”
“Experiencing Korean food, culture, art, traditional architecture, etc. is a trend for people around the world to travel to Korea,” she said, adding, “We will support K-tourism to become a bucket list for people around the world.”
On the same day, Mrs. Kim participated in a ceremony to send out invitations to the world to visit Korea to commemorate the launch of the K-Tourism Partnership, along with Chairperson Lee Boo-jin, Visit Korea Year Ambassador Cha Eun-woo, and representatives of the K-Tourism Partnership’s companies (Song Mi-sun of Hanatour), associations (Park In-sook of the Korean Association of Tourist Interpreters and Guides), and volunteer groups (international students from France).
