“Deliver 180 chickens, please”…the President’s office orders ‘big’ on grilled chicken
Around 11 p.m. on the 21st of this month, we received a huge order to deliver 100 chicken to our Yongsan Station store.
The order came from the presidential office안전놀이터. The presidential office chose chicken as the main menu for the ’34th Korea SME Congress’ to be held on the lawn in front of the presidential office building in Yongsan, Seoul on the 23rd.
On the night of the 22nd, the presidential office revised the order to include 180 birds to be delivered to the presidential office by 4pm on the 23rd. The menu consisted of 120 original whole legs and 60 original boneless pieces. The order amounted to 3.58 million won. No draft beer or drinks were ordered.
G’N Food, the operator of Gourmet Chicken, said, “We helped move the inventory through our sales team because it was not enough for one store,” adding, “The headquarters had no involvement in selecting the menu, and the presidential office placed the order directly to the Yongsan Station store.”
The event honors the achievements of SMEs and venture capitalists who have contributed to economic development and shares their achievements.
According to the presidential office, the event was attended by Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-seon, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Lotte Group Chairman Shin Dong-bin.
The event was also attended by a large number of MZ generation SMEs in their 30s and 40s. President Yoon chose ‘Chimack’ (chicken and beer) as the menu for the event.
Meanwhile, Gupne Chicken has 1095 domestic franchisees as of the end of last year. It ranks fifth in size after BBQ, BHC, Gyochon Chicken, and Chugatjip Seasoned Chicken, and its sales amounted to KRW 222 billion, ranking fourth among all brands.
