Commander pleased with Song’s QS pitching “Exceeded expectations, we’ll see what happens next”
NC manager Kang Myung-hyun sent a satisfied smile to Song Myung-ki after his strong pitching performance.
“Yesterday’s pitching exceeded my expectations,” he said before the game against Lotte at Sajik Stadium on the 2nd.
Song Myung-ki made a quality start against Lotte on April 1, allowing three runs on six hits, two walks, one hit batter and two strikeouts in six innings.메이저놀이터
After starting the season with a spot in the starting rotation, Song switched to a relief role in late May. He has been back in the rotation since July. After failing to complete six innings in the last three games in a row, Song made it through six innings for the first time and achieved a quality start.
“I’m looking forward to the rest of the games because he utilizes a lot of his good pitches,” Kang said.
Song threw 75 pitches the day before, mostly fastballs (33) and sliders (25), with a few forkballs (14) and curves (3).
“In the past, I’ve tried to use all of my pitches against hitters, but yesterday (Day 1) was more about sliders and fastballs. When I didn’t use my curveball, I could see that I had a better understanding of my pitches depending on the batter I was facing,” Kang explained.
However, Kang isn’t resting on his laurels just yet. “We’ll have to see how he does in his next outing,” Kang said, adding, “There’s a lot to watch.”
